Bhaskar Majumder is at present Professor and Head, Centre for Development Studies, Central University of Bihar. He is the recipient of Assam State Scholarship, West Bengal Merit Scholarship. He got his Master’s, M.Phil., Ph.D., all in Economics, from the University of Calcutta. He taught in Calcutta at different levels for several years. He worked as Reader and Professor in G.B.Pant Social Science Institute, Allahabad since 1997. He had been a visiting Fellow in MSH, Paris, France in 2004. He was a visiting fellow at Malaviya Centre for Peace Research, BHU, Varanasi.

He has published so far nine books, and one edited book. He has published more than 65 papers in 20 Journals journals of national and international repute, around 20 chapters in books on social sciences edited by eminent scholars, worked for Planning Commission, GoI, in a number of research projects, completed a number of projects supported by ICSSR, World Bank, and industries. Many students have been awarded Ph.D. under his supervision. He has contributed several papers in national and international seminars and conferences. He has delivered several lectures by invitation in Institutes and Universities in India.

My research is in the area of Governance of Community Forest Management. I am interested in macro-micro politics of development, Governance with focus on State-Civil Society, Aid politics, conflicts and people’s movements related to natural resources. Worked as a Research Assistant in SaciWaters and later in NIRD, Hyderabad. Presented paper in IASC Conference, Hyderabad (2011). Paper titled “Formation of New Identities through Development Interventions”, Japan (2010). Attended International workshop on Forests, landscape and governance in Bhutan (2008). Awarded Young Professional Award, International Association for the Study of Commons (IASC) 2011 and Commonwealth Scholarship.

Mr. Aditya Mohanty is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Sociology as a Commonwealth Split-Site Doctoral Scholar at IIT, Kanpur (IIT-K) and University College London (UCL) from July 2009 onwards. His doctoral research titled ‘Homo civicus or the quotidian politics of Civil Society in Neo-liberal Delhi’ squints at the poetics and politics of Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) in processes of urban governance. Consequent to his post-graduation he has had a brief stint of over four years in numerous civil society organizations like PAHAL, New Delhi, NAVH, Lucknow, ODC, Bhubaneswar and Social Watch India, New Delhi. He is currently a member of numerous professional bodies including the Indian Sociological Society, International Sociological Association and the Regional Studies Association. His notable international Conference presentations in recent years include the ones presented at University College London (UCL), School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of Manchester, Zurich, Coimbra and Frankfurt. His key scholarly works as of now, include Book Reviews, Review Essays, Commentaries and full-length articles in both national and international journals like the Journal of International Development, International Sociology, Asian Studies Review, Urban Policy and Research, Asian Journal of Social Science and the Economic and Political Weekly.
