Ram Kumar Ram Kumar PhD (Zoology, University of Delhi)
  Associate Professor
  ramkumar@cub.ac.in;  Website:www.ramkumarecologist.com
Areas of Expertise/Research interest: Foraging behaviour of marine and fresh water organisms; Life history traits in Zooplankton with reference to food, competition and predation; Effect of hydrodynamic forcing on aquatic organisms; To understand the mechanisms and processes important for the structure, biodiversity, and function of zooplankton community with reference to abiotic and biotic factors.; Ecological Impact assessment of discharge from Industries and outfalls in Freshwater and Marine ecosystem: Underlying mechanisms responsible for induction and termination of dormancy in zooplankton; Conservation of aquatic biodiversity.
Dr. Ram Kumar, an ecologist, loves to slush about in the mud, and dive in the oceans being part of Oceanographic Research Cruises for copepods and cladocerans. Research is a passion for him. He is partial towards activity oriented and interactive teaching of integrative organismal biology in which students are allowed to experimentally test their theoretical knowledge gained in the class room. To fulfil his teaching goals, he employs “Teach and learn” approach and “Inquiry- and evidence-based learning”. He always works towards preset goals with a dedication towards creative pursuits and pioneering pedagogy to make teaching-learning of Ecology an enjoyable experience. Firmly grounded in modern ecological science, he wishes to examine and discuss conservation strategies at the species, population, community and ecosystem level. He has worked as Invited Professor in the University of Science and Technology, Lille, and University of Littoral France, as Visiting Scholar and Post Doc in the National Taiwan Ocean University, Taiwan, and Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and Assistant Professor in Acharya Narendra Dev College (University of Delhi).
