Academic and Administrative Positions
Prof. Nehal did his Graduation with Zoology as major (B.Sc. (Hons.) & M.Sc.) from Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU), Darbhanga (Bihar). He obtained M.Phil. (1982) and Ph.D. (1988) in biochemistry/life sciences from JNU; worked as Postdoctoral fellow at SLS/JNU as well as AIIMS, New Delhi; his main area of interest - “Ageing and effects of aging”; a couple of dozen papers published in journals of national and international repute with high citation index and impact factor; he attended and participated in several national and international conferences and symposia;
He joined LNMU in 1982 as Lecturer in Zoology, served as founder Professor-in-Charge, Gerontology and founder Coordinator, PG Diploma in Geriatric Care Course under UGC’s innovative scheme at the University Department of Zoology, LNMU ; guided and supervised a number of Doctoral works;
Elected member of New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS), USA; life member of Association of Gerontologists (India); UGC Expert Member of
- Research Proposal Committee-2009 and 2010
- Indo-Mauritius Academic Exchange Committee-2010, and
- Conference/Seminar Proposal Committee-2010.
His administrative profile includes Development Officer, LNMU for three years with establishment of first of its kind Women’s Institute of Technology (WIT); Founder Professor-in-Charge, Satellite Interactive Terminal, LNMU under Vigyan Prasar EduSat (ISRO) network for more than three years ; also University Nodal Officer at LNMU of GOI’s NME-ICT (National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology).
